Reefuge began in 2011 as a small, women-led rescue based in New York City, created with a bold mission and a growing commitment to responsible rescue. What started as a tiny effort quickly earned a strong reputation within the rescue community. Over time, the rescue expanded into an interstate foster network supported by a dedicated team of NYC volunteers who continue to work tirelessly for animals in need.
This team shapes Reefuge—now known as BEASTLY—into a powerful, reliable organization that speaks up for animals and stays true to its mission of rescuing responsibly.
Today, BEASTLY operates under its new name, but its identity and values remain the same. It is still a 501(c)(3) organization with the same structure and the same leadership, now strengthened by a larger team of committed members who carry the mission forward.
